As far as I found out, finding an agent to 'sell' your book to the publishing houses is the best way to go. they also provide consultations and editing.

Thanks for the advice on publishing, I was just wondering why self publishing companies are such a bad idea, I know a lot of people using then and while I'm not a big fan I thought they wouldn't be as popular if there was something so wrong with them?
